Australian Alpaca Color Blocked Beanie with Oversized Brim
I purchased a few dozen colors of this Australian Alpaca yarn from the Morris & Sons shop in Sydney last Christmas. I was inspired by all the possibilities when faced with walls and walls of colors-I grabbed as many skeins as I could fit into my basket.
The result has been a collection of color blocked beanies inspired by textiles from the Bauhaus Movement of the 1920s.
Each beanie takes 6+ hours to knit by hand. To finish each piece, they are soaked in warm water overnight, then lightly dried so that the finished piece is slightly felted and incredibly warm.
This particular beanie was created with a touch of alpaca at the top, with the muted green in a machine washable wool. (If you DO wash the piece, the top will become more felted/smaller but the body will should maintain it's original sizing.)
Each fitted, ribbed beanie is unisex, and can be worn cuffed or uncuffed.
Measurements are as follows:
Circumference (can stretch 4-6") 8.25"
Dry Clean for a longer lasting piece, otherwise hand wash and lay flat to dry.
